Relatives called for an inquiry into the continued refusal of bail of the five students activists arrested in connection with the Kotalawala Act protest at Parliament Square on 3 August.
The police have submitted to the court assessment reposts of Rs 179.000 damage caused to the road and Rs 30,000 to the barriers which, is a false report, and the police do not have any evidence to prove that the damages caused by the activists who were remanded said the relatives. The relatives also pointed out that the absence of the Magistrate on the days when the case was called. Also, despite the fact that all those who could be granted bail due to the pandemic situation, these activists continue to be remanded without granting bail. Three activists have already contracted the virus in the prison, and they are being transferred from place to place.
