Three protesters arrested on false charges for protesting against the repeal of the Kotalawala Bill have been diagnosed with coronavirus in quarantine camps.
The Convener of the Frontline Socialist Party Chameera Koswatte, IUSF Vasantha Mudalige and President of the Jayawardanepura University student union Amila Sandeepa are infected. They were detained at the Colombo remand prison after being produced before the court. There were PCR and antigen tests carried out and it was confirmed that neither of them was infected with the virus. They were later detained at the Thaldena detention camp in Badulla and they were tested positive on the 25th. Hundreds have been detained claiming to be quarantined without any responsibility for their lives.
The IUSF points out that they have not even been referred for treatments. IUSF further claim that the three had contracted the virus as a part of a government plan to detain them with false allegations.
