Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that despite present financial hardships, the government had made arrangements to settle over a 1000 million dollar loan premium due this month.
The newly appointed finance minister also tabled a proposal of the financial arrangement until the next Budget to the Cabinet. However, it was not clear that 24-year long salary matters solved with this proposal. Teachers likely have to wait until the next Budget to settle their salary issues.
Meanwhile, US-based financial publisher Boomaramng stated Sri Lanka just managed to pass the deadline categorised as a country that failed to repay loan instalments.
