The Director-General of Health Services confirmed on the 23rd that the total number of deaths from the 3rd wave is 606 so far.
Also, 249 deaths have been reported for the last week. Thirteen deaths were reported from the first wave while 1197 deaths were reported from the second and third waves with a total of 1210. According to the National Center for preventing the spread of COVID-19, 567 deaths in Sri Lanka have been reported in people over 70. Further, 321 people between the age of 61 to 70 and 171 between the ages of 51-60 have died from the virus. In addition, 87 people between the ages of 41-50 and 34 people between the ages of 31-40 died according to the centre. Fifteen people between the ages of 10-30 and two children under nine have died from the virus.
