Some Get Sick as Internaional Workers Day Approaches – Duminda Nagamuwa

(TopNews) The Front Line Socialist party says that their party has not prepared to suspend activities for the celebration of Internaional Workers Day International Labor Day on the 1st of May.

There are reports that political parties have agreed not to hold Workers Day due to the pandemic and that the military spokesman has said the same. The party said that it is up to the working class to decide whether to hold the Workers Day celebrations in a country that show the solidarity of the International workers movement for that purpose.
Duminda Nagamuwa stated this at a special media briefing held on 20 April as a response to the spreading fake news reports that the political parties have reached an agreement not to conduct any worker day events. He further said that as sometimes school children cannot cope with the exams and they get sick, this government also gets sick when the public demands the rights of the people as they have no answers for it. The government is trying to cancel the workers’ day activities as they cannot tell us what achievements and privileges have been given to the people in the past. They have to say how the peoples’ rights of this country have been curtailed and how they have been cut peoples’ rights by a special act of the port city. They have no choice but to deceive the workers and selling the port terminal, destroy the environment and Sinharaja forest. The government is misusing the pandemic and preparing to stop holding Workers Day by showing statistics that the epidemic in cities has increased. The government is only trying to prevent protests against them and hold demonstrations and rallies on public protesters.
