Failed Cover-up Attempt of Journalist Torture in Maradana Police Station!

(TopNews) Another ugly police harassment claim came to light last Thursday when the arrested freelance photojournalist Malika Abayakoon fell unconscious inside the Courtroom.

Malika was arrested last Wednesday by the police whilst covering a health union protest. He was taken to the Maradana police station and was assaulted in police custody and later in the OIC’s room.
Shortly after, he was produced before the Maligakanda magistrate with a Judicial Medical Officer’s(JMO) report, which stated that Malika hadn’t received any injuries. As a last resort, Malika removed his shirt and showed the magistrate his bruises himself. He then collapsed due to his injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Considering these developments, the Judge ordered another JMO report from the Prison Hospital, while Malitha was further remanded until the 12th.
