Energy Minister and Cabinet spokesman Udaya Gammanpila’s latest statement on acquiring 99 oil tanks in Trincomalee received an immediate backfire.
‘The oil tanks leased for 99 years in the year 2003. The Sri Lankan government attempted to get back the properties even in 2015 without proper negotiation process,’ said Gopal Baglay, Indian high commissioner to Sri Lanka.
It was reviled that the government is in a campaign to promote nationalist ideology by bringing meaningless discussions such as get back oil tanks from India to society.
It is an open secret that the government’s lifespan hangs on with Sinhala nationalist ideological forces’ support.
