Threat of Europe’s New COVID Variant Strikes the Country as Infections Surpass 50,000



(TopNews) The variant of COVID started in the UK and instantly spread in Europe, thought to penetrate the country.

The country’s number of COVID19 infections has increased rapidly, already surpassed 50,000.

Amount of COVID19 deaths remained low until September last year as only 13 deaths reported. However, total cases increased unprecedently over the months. The death rate increased by up to 249 to date.

The new variant possesses 70 % spreading rate and also weaker than the existing virus. The UK’s hospital network is edged to collapsed with a new variant as daily death toll stayed around 1000 per day.

Neighbouring India reported their first new variant COVID cases last month. Considering the economic and social ties with India and Sri Lanka, there was a threat to spread the new virus to the country.

As noted, the government released the grip on the fight against COVID and focused more on their political agenda. The people were asked to stay at home. However, the events in line with government politics functioned freely. The pro-government TV Chanel held their new year party with politicians and celebrities ignoring the social distancing laws.

Meanwhile GMOA president and one of the leading spokesperson of government COVID programme was coroutine after contacted virus. The public health inspectors claimed that he was tried to overlook coronatine session using his civil states.
