Security Forces and Police of Gotabaya Rajapaksha regime are involved in destroying the monument of the dead built by the Jaffna university students.
Rulers claim they are victorious after a war faought for thirty years but they have never conqured minds of those living living in the island. The people have a right to express their grief on behalf of their loved ones who died during that war and to commemorate the heroism of the struggle they have fought. If anyone insults the dead, no respect exists for humanity nor for life.
People protested against the erected monument in memory of the parents of Rajapaksha family, just because of the disgust of doing it with public money and not because of hatred for the dead’s remembrance.
This seems to be continued as the Rajapaksha regime has started bulldozing the LTTE’s graves during the war. We could not do anything against at that time and our remorse alone is not enough.
Humiliation, after someone dies, is not humanity. No one could do anything about the destruction of the ‘Ahinsakayange Aaramaya’ built for students in Embilipitiya who were killed during the UNP terror era. Despite the media reported the contrary, few were able to speak out against the Rajapaksha’s murderous rule.
There must be a collective voice on the decision to bury the bodies and the action that destroy the monument in Jaffna.
