Information of whereabouts of the Lawyer Hijaz Hizbullah, taken to custody by the Criminal Investigations Department, not revealed to the family members.
He was due to produce before Colombo magistrate on the 7th but at last minute officers have informed the family members that he won’t be taken since he is contacted with COVID19.
However, Hizbullah’s families worried about his life as authorities gave contradictory answers when inquiring about him. Hijaz Hizbullah, not produced before magistrate due to his condition, the family was informed. According to the media he was held in Kalutara Health Centre for Covid Patients, along with crime gang leaders like Kosgoda Tharaka. Even Hizbullah’s lawyers couldn’t get exact answers of his whereabouts. These incidents mounted a threat of his life, the sources said.
The two political activists, Lalith and Kuhan, were abducted in 2011. Later on, the then Government spokesman minister Kehiliya Rabukwella told media, that they were in government custody. However, Lalith and Kuhan still reported missing.
