Sandhya Eknaligoda says that the appointment of the retired Judge Upali Abeyrathne as the chairman of the Office of the disappearances in Sri Lanka is an insult the families of the missing due to his conduct and bribes.
In her letter to Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights she further stated that Upali Abeytathne was actively acted against the families of the missing as a chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into revenge. She urges the UN to discuss with the Sri Lankan Government and replace him with a suitable person.
Sandhya Eknaligoda sent this letter to the UN High Commissioner last week, introducing her as the wife of Prageeth Eknaligoda, a political cartoonist and a journalist who had been disappeared forcibly.
