A special team of the Criminal Investigation Department has abducted and detained the wife, one and a half year-old daughter and parents of Thusitha Kumara the driver of former minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
It is later revealed they have been taken into the Criminal Investigation Department. The illegal detention was made by a team at about 12.45 am today, at their residence in Imaduwa, Galle. The police have come to Thusitha Kumara’s residence asking for him in connection with the investigation into an accident occurred near Sarana Road linked to Parliament Road on February 28, 2016. They were told by the wife of Thusitha that her husband is not at home. Then the police team were ordered to detain the family. The detained family were brought to Colombo and kept and taken by the Police Jeep to near the residence of MP Patali Champika Ranawaka and waited until Thusitha Kumara, the driver, arrived, reports further said.
The police announced that an investigation has relaunched over the former minister’s driver for allegedly being responsible for causing an accident to Sandeep Sampath, who is permanently disabled with his injuries to the present.
Meanwhile, former minister Patali Champika Ranawaka is reportedly given a statement regarding the accident to the courts today.
