Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa who was appointed recently as Leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), says that he is still a Senior Adviser of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
Responding to queries of journalists following an event held in Colombo yesterday (04) the Opposition Leader stated that he did not receive an invitation for the SLFP 68th anniversary convention despite being a senior adviser of the party.
According to the normal policies of political organizations, or even in a welfare society members are bound with its constitution and no member shall violate it. Once a member of a political party becomes member of another political party the membership of the former party is invalid. But the SLFP has not taken any legal action against Mahinda Rajapaksha. The idea seems to refrain from annoying the followers of Mahinda Rajapaksha, in greed of votes.
