The Presidential Secretary Udaya R.Seneviratna told to the Supreme Court that the government would appoint the Presidential Lawyers after considering the advice from the justice field.
The secretary informed this to the Supreme Court on 31st as a reply for the accusation of appointing the Presidential lawyers without clear system and therefore violating fundamental rights for the suitable lawyers. A lawyer has filed a case as losing his fundamental rights, and when this case was taken for hearing, the Attorney General informed the above ideas to the Supreme Court instead of the Presidential Secretary.
According to the petitioner, only for the last three years, 75 Presidential Lawyers have been appointed but no any accepted system was carried out for these appointments. The petitioner says in his petition that the Presidential Lawyer to be appointed by considering their 25 years of service as a lawyer and their dedication for the law field. The petitioner had already complained to the Lanka Bar Association about this unfairness.
Is is reported that the Justice fields in Lanka has heavily corrupted and even some of the Judges have apparently betrayed their dignity of the profession. In some cases, the Judges have demanded the sexual bribes from the accused’s wife to bail them out. In other cases, the cases have been prioritize according to the political backgrounds and money power. Some cases are to be postponed months and years without any reason.
as there is no any proper system for the appointments as well as the promotions for the courts Judges, all of these irregularities are done by political influences. Compare with these all situations in the justice field, presidential lawyer’s appointments without proper system means, only a tiny bit of fraction of that whole field.
