New Jersey Woman Convicted for Keeping Lankan Woman as ‘Slave’



A New Jersey woman has been convicted of forcing a Lankan national to work her for nine years without paying wages.

She has been charged with forced labor,  fraud, and a forged marriage. The Lankan woman had to work long hours which included housework and childcare, and was barred from leaving home. Lankan woman who was staying in the US on a temporary visa deceit into a fake marriage by the American woman to keep her in the country. 

Reportedly, the woman, who was found guilty of the above-mentioned charges, was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison convicted on forced labor.
