ATG Workers Started Continued Protest Against the Unionist Hunt !



The workers of Katunayake gloves making factory have comenced continued protest campaign against the arbitrary action taken by the company authority to expel 5 union leaders. Actually what those 5 union leaders have done is, to put a notice in the company notice board informing the workers about their blood donation programme due-to their second year union anniversary.
The first protest campaign the workers started for this, has already reached 60 days by now. There are five factories of this under the British ownership and currently 1200 workers are working in this factory. After putting the notice in the notice board by those five leaders, the authority has reportedly got very angry about that and those workers were immediately called for a disciplinary inquiry in the same morning. Later the authority informed the workers that they have sacked those 5 workers as the finally decision of the disciplinary inquiry.
According to the workers,The normal procedure of this factory is, to recruit resigned security personals for security sections and for the office vacancies and keeping administration to control the factory as military rulers. The workers say that they are going to continue their protest campaign until their five union leaders jobs re-stablish.
