Gotabhaya Admits He Knew Who Were Behind the Crimes Against Journalists



Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the Defense Secretary of the Rajapakse government again says that he knew the information regarding the murders, abductions and assaults of journalists at the time.
Speaking to ‘Daily Mirror’ newspaper, Gotabhaya have said that murder of Lasantha Wickrematunga, disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda and abduction of Keith Noyahr cases were known to responsible authorities and that they were not interested in taking action due to the prevailing war at the time. This is the second time Gotabaya has publicly stated in the media that being the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence under President Mahinda Rajapakse, he was aware of those information.
In a discussion with ‘ Sathhanda’ newspaper sometime ago, he mentioned about an operation launched by the security forces on his advice to abduct FSSP member Kumar Gunarathnam.
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has expressed views to the journalists at various times regarding the repression, assassination and attacks of the Rajapaksa regime. At that times he had complained about others for doing those. This is the first time that he revealed that such attacks and killings were acknowledged by him as the Defense Secretary.
He revealed fist time to the ‘Sathhanda’ newspaper that he was hunting his opponents using security forces.
At the time, complaints were lodged with the Police Headquarters to bring him into custody, but no action has been taken so far.
It is again revealed that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has been working with criminals and defended them the responsibility of the Defense Secretary to reveal who they were.
