President Maithripala Sirisena says that our education has not been developed to suit the local as well as foreign employment market.
The President had stated that the authorities should no longer neglect the responsibility of creating a graduate suitable for the job market through the local university system.
He made these remarks at the launch of ‘Incompatibility between Sri Lanka Education System and the Job market’ published by Mohan Lal Grero.
Speaking at the event, Maithripala Sirisena stated that although the proposal to change the plans and policies of the educational system was raised since long period of time, it was not been able to implement as yet.
Speaking further, he said:
“From our students, those who go to universities are protesting on the roads every day demanding their rights! Graduates are protesting to demand jobs! If the education was not given to suit the job market, who is to blame? But the graduates who do not have a job are screaming to change this system, change education courses, change curriculum, employment for skilled graduates, knowledge for the job market, knowledge for national and international market, create a degree to the market needs, how many of them were protesting?”
Maithripala Sirisena thinks that the education is the training of workers. But the world has accepted the idea that education is for making a perfect man.
it is certain that Maithripala doesn’t want a thinking perfect man but workers to fulfil their various economic targets.
