The Estate Workers’ Centre that have been mobilising plantation workers against the exploitation and to win a fair salary held it’s first conference today at Bandalawela.
Working under a least salary, without proper houses for shelter, minimum health facilities and educational facilities, the plantation workers successfully launched an island wide struggle for Rs. 1000 minimum daily wage with the help of leftist parties and other mass organizations. Today the convention unanimously approved resolutions to continue the struggle to improve the living standards as well as engage to improve political awareness among estate worker community.plant
