A group of employees staged a protest against a sudden removal of large number of employees who worked at the National Housing Development Authority. The protest was launched yesterday (03) in front of the premises.
The protesters were saying that they have been removed from their services after Wimal Weerawansa had recently been appointed as the Minister of Housing Development. By protesting against his decision, they have asked to re-establish themselves in their services again.
Following the protest, it has been decided to re-establish 2400 employees back in services, the General Manager of the Housing Development Authority, Srimathi Weerasinghe has mentioned. Accordingly, the decision was announced to re-establish their services by cancelling Wimal Weerawansa’s letter for suspension of employment.
It was reported that these employees have been recruited as the trainees of a “Uda Gammana“ project initiated by former housing minister Sajith Premadasa.
