The Petition against the dissolving the parliament by the President, is due to be hearing from 4th of December to 6th of December before the seven supreme court magistrates panel.
According to that, the Supreme Court Magistrates of the bench comprising, Chief Justice Nalin Perera (head of the panel ), Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira Abrew, Prasanna Jayawardana, Priyantha Jayawardana, Vijith Malalgoda, Murdu Fernando will be hearing this fundamental rights petition.
By considering the Motion presented by Mahinda faction to increase the amount of rhe justices for more than 5 members as a fully magistrates panel, the CJ decided to appoint 7 Magistrates to consider this Petition.
There were 13 factions who filed the Petition against the President’s decision to dissolve the parliament. The UNP, TNA,JVP, All Ceylon Tamil Congress, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, former parliamentarian Mano Ganeshan, Alternative Policy Centre, Lawyer Aruna Laksiri and the committee member of Election, Professor Rantnajeevan Hoole were among them.
Before this, when this Petition taken in to the consideration on last 13th of November by 3 Judges who were the CJ, Prasanna Jayawardana and Priyantha Jayawardana, They accepted the Petition to be hearing and issued an interim banned order for the Gazette that issued by the President, until 7th of December.
