As a result of the dilapidation of the NSSP party, the majority group which represents the leftist idea, started the “Wame Handa” paper on 2014 and it’s 4th anniversary was held at Center for Society and Religion, Maradana, Colombo on 1st of December.
Neel Wijegunaratna, Lenas Jayathilaka and Dharmasiri Lankapeli were invited to presidium of the anniversary. Then the editor of “Wame Handa” Dharmasiri Lankapeli explained the purpose of this 4th anniversary meeting. After that, the representatives of the working people’s associations addressed the meeting. Anton Marcus representing the Free Trade Zone General Services Workers Association, Silvester Jayakodi representing the Commercial and Mercantile Union, Chathura Samarasingha representing the Estate Service Workers Association, Dev Krishnan representing the Nothern Province People’s Forum, Herath the vice chairman of the Ceylon Bank Employees Union added the complements for the 4th anniversary.
After that Neel Wijerarhna explained the path of “Wame Handa” organisation since thay came out from NSSP and how they faced the challenges for the past 4 years.
After the interval, the discussion started for about the current crisis and the challenges for the left at the moment. For this panel discussion, Senadheera Gunathilaka from the Front Line Socialist Party, Vidarshana Kannangara from Praxis Group, Geethika Dharmasingha from Vimukthi Movement, Dev Krishnan front Northern Province People’s Community, Chinthaka Rajapaksha and Kesara Kottegoda from Workers Association of the Bank of Ceylon expressed their ideas.
