President Must Secure a Fresh Mandate After the 8th of January – Champika

Patali Champika Ranawaka stated that the most important task at the moment is to remove the illegal government and hold a presidential election after January. Issuing a statement, he says that the President can call a presidential election anytime after January 8, 2019.
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has said that by having a 2/3rd majority, both General Election and the Presidential Election can be held at the same time. In addition to minimizing cost to the country, this will also give an opportunity to elect both the legislators and the president at the same time .
He further said that on the 26th October Maithripala Sirisena has turned his back to the mandate given to him on January 8,2015 and that he has no moral right to act as the president without a fresh mandate.
