The Fort Magistrate Court has ordered to the CID to arrest the former Navy head and the defence staff chief, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratna and bring him to the court. But, when the burglary investigation section in-charge of the CID, inspector Nishantha Silva explained to the court that the accusations are strong enough to arrest the former Navy head and the defense staff chief Ravindra Wijegunaratna, the representative officer of the Attorney-general office told to the court that Mr Ravindra Wijegunaratna should have a chance to explain facts from his side. Then the Magistrate resolutely advised to the representative officer of the Attorney-general Department that the investigation police officer of this case has the absolute power to arrest the accused and bring him before the court.
Therefore the Magistrate warned if the police officer would not take the necessary steps to arrest the accused, the court can get the action against the police officer according to the 216 and 185 sections of the penal code of the law.
