The new sessions of the parliament will commence on the 16th and parliamentary majority will not be tested on that day, said Co-spokesman Mahinda Samarasinghe at a cabinet press briefing on Tuesday the 30th.
The minister also said that President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to address the parliament and bills or other things will not be submitted on the 16th.
It is possible that the majority will decide whether or not to establish the next government. People can expect that a new government will be established with the will of the elected representatives if not the people’s will.
Even though it is logical to declare a majority in the Parliament and select a prime minister it is the government’s attempt to postpone the session by using president’s powers without taking risk of loosing a vote in the Parliament.
