Minister of Foreign Employment Services Harin Fernando has said that a new bill will be introduced to stop the human trafficking operations that has become a problem for Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the media yesterday, he said that this bill is being prepared on the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee appointed to look into the matter. According to the new bill, the pedigree report will not be compulsory.
Foreign employment agencies are working to send a large number of females using false documents to complete the age limit. The minister has mentioned that a 13-year-old child who had been sent to foreign employment by using fake documents had tried to commit suicide in the Sri Lankan embassy in Oman.
