Navy Commander Didn’t Escape Law, Just Went for an Official Duty!



Chief of Defense Ravindra Wijegunaratne has said that he was unable to attend court because he had to leave for official duty. He has also mentioned that he had been informed to the CID about his leaving. The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court on May 29 that the Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chandana alias Navy Sampath Hettiarachchi got aids from Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne to leave the country. Navy Sampath charged with abduction of 11 youths in 2008. The government has stated that the Chief of Defense has left for Mexico on an invitation from the Mexican defence minister.
