The incident of giving poisonous milk packets to the protest group of the Mahinda faction will be methodically investigated.
IGP Pujith Jayasundara has said that if the investigations prove it true, they will be punished severely. It is reported that an investigation is being conducted based on a complaint received to the IGP relief unit. In addition to the complaint lodged with the IGP, the complaint was lodged at the Matara Police Station.
According to the complaint, suspected milk packets have been distributed in Colombo Union place. During the protest, a group of unidentified persons distributed milk packets to several protesters in Colombo, and 38 people had to receive treatment at the Colombo National Hospital due to various symptoms.
In the past few days, Mahinda faction accused the government members of parliament. Wimal Weerawansa stated in Parliament that they had injected the poison into the milk packets. UNP MP Mujibur Rahman was also accused of the poisoning of milk treat.
