Focusing on determining the implementation of the death penalty in Sri Lanka, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, says she was disappointed with the outcome.
She made this statement addressing the 39th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) which was held in Switzerland yesterday (10). Further, High Commissioner for Human Rights also claimed that the functioning of the ethics for the Immediate Implementation of Immigration in Sri Lanka is also very slow.
Even in the midst of all of these, she is satisfied with the establishment of the Office of the Missing Persons, and the activation of its functions. The High Commissioner for Human Rights insisted that the authorities should take the necessary measures to ensure long-term stability with regards to the Human Rights in Sri Lanka.
Two reports are due to be presented on Sri Lanka at the 39th Session of the UNHRC which will conclude on September 28.
