TNA MP M.A. Sumandiram addressing a media conference in Jaffna stated that media has incorrectly reported a speech he made in Galle.
Reports stated quoting MP’s speech that no reforms required for the federal system. Denying reports in the media MP said that he believe new constitution is required for the country which is contrary to the reports. He further stated that he only said we should try to avoid using disputed words ‘federal’ or ‘unitary’ while discussing the constitution amendments. He said this clearly stated in the constitutional amendment reports presented.
Even though he try to avoid disputed words MP said there is no change to his position of matter should be resolved by a federal system. He believe power should be devolve among elected representatives and not to the governors appointed.
