The Prime Minister, Ranil Wickramasinghe said the government has no any obstacle in staying in power for another three years.
Further he said, two parties who had been rivals for many years formed a joint government and when having disputes between the two parties doesn’t mean the government is about to collapse. He said, once he was inquired by a Pakistani representative how it possible to run a government joining two parties with differences. At present the British ruling party has divided into three groups while the opposition into two or three. According to political experts the prime minister has revealed his views at a meeting in the presence of the president with the intention of pointing out the disadvantage of calling for an early presidential election. The president can call for a presidential election after completion of four years in office. But under the prevailing political situation it will be a disadvantage for the leader of the United National Party for his presidential candidature. So it is obvious that the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickramasinghe is trying to prove that the collision government can move on for another three years without any difficulties.
