Kantale New Town Hall, which was to be declared open by the President on the 10th of August, was forcibly opened yesterday the 3rd of August, by the members of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna from Kanthale Pradeshiya Sabha.
The construction of the Kantale Town Hall, which was started at a cost of Rs. 17 million by the Rajapakshe Government has been delayed due to failure of approving funds by the present government. The lately funded building has recently been completed and was due to be declared open by the president.
However, due to an argument between members of the ‘Srilanka Podu Jana Peramuna’ and other political parties at a special general meeting held at the Kanthale Pradeshiya Sabha, members of Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna had declared open the town hall building yesterday the 3rd by cutting the ribbon.
