The present government who increased the fuel price recently have been forced to reduce the price of kerosene oil due to continuous protests by the fishermen.
The Finance Ministry says that they will reduce the kerosene price from Rs 110 to Rs 70-80 due to a request made by he Ministry of Fisheries. Kerosene oil is a source of energy for the fisheries community and for significant number of general public. The government has announced that fuel prices have been rising due to the price increase in the global market, however they never reduce the price when the global market lowers the fuel price. In this situation, the government had to reduce the prices due to organized protests by the fisheries community.
