Second Sri Lankan who Reached the Everest was Warmly Welcomed at Katunayake

Johan Peiris, who successfully reached the highest peak of Mountain Everest, arrived at Katunayake International Airport this yesterday morning (1st).

Jayanthi Kurutumpala was the first ever Sri Lankan who climbed the top of the Mount Everest in April 2016. Johan was accompanied by the Jayanthi at that time. However, Johan could not reach the peak before 448 meters as he did not have enough oxygen.

Jayanthi Kurutumpala became the first Sri Lankan to reach the top of Mount Everest, 8,848 meters from the sea level. Johan climbed the Everest this time as a member of the International Mountain Leaders team
