Member of parliament Thilanga Sumathipala, who recently joined with opposition party has resigned from the position, to prepare for the upcoming elections of the cricket board, according to political sources.
He lost after contesting under UPFA for Colombo in the last general election, and he was then appointed on a National list by the president Maithree. Then he selected as a Deputy Speaker of Parliament. Later, he was among the 16 MP’s who voted for a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
The main reason behind his resigning is to contest the election of the new members of the Cricket Board. The Sri Lanka Cricket board is a place where circulating large sum of rupees. It is controversial that Thilanga has left the position to contest the cricket board.
