Yesterday’s protest in Colombo organised by the Joint Unemployed Graduates’ Union has been attacked by the police with water Cannons.
The Union launched the protest march yesterday (8th) morning from Colombo Fort, demanding job opportunities.
The number of unemployed graduates during the 6-year period from 2012 to 2017 has exceeded 57,000, and the protestors accuse the government of failing to provide a national policy to solve unemployment issue.
They protest has been organised demanding the government to take immediate actions to solve their problems to provide job opportunities to all unemployed graduates.
It has been reported that they were continuing to demand for the ‘Rights of the unemployed’ despite the police attempts to disperse the protestors.
