CEB engineers claim that the government is trying to sell ‘20 year electricity generating scheme’, which is ready to be implemented by the Ceylon Electricity Board, to private sector companies for profit.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) states that the CEB will enter into a trade union action on the 08th of this month against the Director General of the Public Utilities Commission in an effort to approve the implementation of the power project. It is learned that the Director General of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka and several other corrupted officers are objecting the implementation of the power project in order for them to sell it for profit.
The CEB Public Utilities Commission the Engineers Union had held a lengthy discussion on the existing issues with the President on the 25th last, but no action has been taken so far. If the government is unable to take any action regarding the issues discussed, they will take strong trade union action in the future, the CEB Engineers Union stated.
