Universities Trade Unions Joint Committee yesterday decided to withdraw from all essential services due to the non-availability of a response to the continuous strike launched by the university non academic staff since February 28.
To date, non-academic employees have been engaged in essential services even during the strike. Notwithstanding that, since the authorities failed to adopt an acceptable action regarding any of their requests, the non-academic staff members will be refrained from essential services, including security services, water and electricity supplies in universities, and care of animals in Agricultural faculties and other essential services from 15th March.
Meanwhile, the Vice chancellors of universities say, if the non-academic staff is refrained from essential services, the universities can not be maintained. Therefore, the government has to pay attention to non-academic staff requests.
