UPFA General Secretary Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the Cabinet Minister responsible for the portfolio of Law and Order will be changed at the next Cabinet reshuffle.
The ministry should be given to a person who is able to tackle such matters like corruption and drug business in the country. This was stated by Mahinda Amaraweera at a ceremony held in Angunakolapalassa last Friday. He said that the recent Cabinet reshuffle did not change in the way he expected, but he respected the decisions of the President.
However, subsequent to the local government elections, it was the SLFP ministers including President Maithripala Sirisena who said about taking the control of the joint government from the United National Party. Then it was just a talk which was later downgraded as a cabinet reshuffle. The cabinet reshuffle which was then postponed few days came into effect with just exchange of Ministerial posts.
Further Minister Amaraweera said the Prime Minister should remain in the post as Minister for law and order until the next cabinet reshuffle, which has no fixed date.
