SLIIT Administration Suspend Students for Displaying a Banner to Welcome Freshers !

Four Engineering Faculty students of SLIIT institute, Malabe have been suspended from classes for displaying a poster. Engineering faculty students have prepared the poster to welcome new students for the faculty. The administration has taken steps to remove the poster from display without any justification.
Accordingly, two students of the Engineering Faculty have been suspended for two years and two students have been suspended for one year.
After questioning the removal of the poster, they have mentioned that it was removed as it has been put up without permission. However, when the students tried to meet the Managing Director to get the permission, they have been threatened away complaining about the text pattern, colour and specialty the word ‘brotherhood’. The Director has also said that the poster will not be allowed to be displayed again.
Students strongly condemn the institution administration’s malicious acts against student activists, since the students have opposed the issue of outstanding welfare and academic issues within the institution.
The SLIIT administration is extremely unreasonable about depriving students the minimum freedom of such institutions and it is clear that they are acting solely for the production of slavish-minded robots but claiming that they are providing a quality education.
