Lankan Ministers approve getting membership of IMF regional body

Cabinet ministers have approved a proposal to obtain membership of the South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Centre (SARTTAC) which is the IMF Regional hand to regularise economies to the expected IMF levels.

SARTTAC, the IMF’s newest regional initiative and began operations in January 2017. This centre is the first to fully integrate training and technical advice to the South Asian States, and it operates under the IMF’s strategic plans in the neo-liberal restructuring programmes in the region. Located in New Delhi, India, SARTTAC works with Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka Governments
