The Anti-corruption Committee Secretariat, established by the present government as an enactment of election promises for the elimination of frauds by public offices is to be mothballed in the coming month of August.
The leaders of present government before assuming power in 2015 pledged to set up a fully-powered UK style fraud office to fight corruption. The establishing of Anti-corruption Committee Secretariat in 2016 was portrayed as to coordinate the investigations of the allegations of serious frauds, financial crimes and corruption.
The reason is reportedly the failure to function effectively and to stop the allocation of funds for the newly established lesser powered anti-fraud body. Another reason for the decision is that the disobedience by the officials assigned to this office to the ministers, well-informed sources revealed.
