Postcard Campaign to Demand Drought Compensation – Surrounding of Parliament Postponed

Namal Karunaratne, the national organiser for All Ceylon Farmer Federation stated that they had strated a postcard campaign demanding the government to take immediate actions to deliver drought compensation.

The Federation urges the government to act according to the promise they made as previously the government had agreed to compensate 40,000 rupees for each drought ravaged farming family. According to the national organizer, steps would be taken to forward these postal letters to the President from all over the country.

Addressing a protest rally at Hinguraggoda on 9th of July Mr Namal Karunarathne said if the government unable to take necessary steps according to their pledged compensation of Rs 40000, the farmers would march to Colombo to surround the Parliament.
